I love, love, love this place. It is very inexpensive, lacking of pretense, and the food is good! I take out of town people here all the time and they cannot believe how good it is, the location, and prices. I'm happy as can be day drinking on what typically would be a "school day" while watching March Madness. Does not get much better than this! I would recommend the burgers, tuna, and although I do not enjoy them, my friends love the chicken livers! Where else can you get chicken livers on a menu?!

Out riding the bicycle on the beach and needed a good place to re fuel. It's a bit of a dive and kind of hard to see from the street, but that's what makes it cool. The bottled beers are nice and cold, and the bartender was friendly enough. What blew me away was how great the Ahi Tuna with Seaweed salad was. I ordered it medium rare and it came out perfect, with a nice side of wasabi sauce to dip in. Plus it was just under $10, what a deal !

Ambience is great - small bar that resembles a Key West type of place. Great servers; very fast and friendly. However, the food didn't do it for me. I ordered their Chicken Parmesan (which I heard was amazing) and it simply was far from amazing. But it does have potential. I say that because the chicken is very good. It was perfectly breaded and baked. Not one piece of fat or gristle. But the accompaniments destroyed the chicken. The sauce - probably one of the worst I've ever had. Watery, oniony, just plain gross. The spaghetti was just cheap and ill-prepared, plain and simple. It also came with "garlic" bread, but there wasn't a hint of garlic. It was like stale bread that they threw in a toaster oven. If it wasn't for the chicken, the service and the very casual and cool atmosphere, this would've been a very easy one star review. Get new sauce and Barilla pasta!

Late night food, inexpensive, good enough to be worth the low price followed up with absolutely shitty drinks and careless service. This part of the coast of Florida can't make drinks for crap, and most of their food is garbage... but this place knew how to own the food aspect by just pricing it at a reasonable price for how basic it all is. $5.77 for a hamburger and tots after midnight is a damn fair price.

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon becuase I was craving a good burger. Descent crowd for a Friday afternoon. The bartender working was hilarious! Probably the most energy I have ever seen, no lie. They did not have a happy hour but we had a couple beers and they were decently priced. Think 3 bucks or so. I was informed by the bartender they do have a happy hour from 8am till 11 am. Lol. Not sure I will be making that. Burgers came and were absolutely delicious. We ended up getting the Wicked Willey. I love spicy food ao it was awesome for me. Warning: Do not get this burger if you do no like super hot food! This place has a very comfortable bar down the street feel to it. I would suggest checking it out.

Totally legit cooked to order massive burger in a fun atmosphere with some kickin 70's rock on a great sound system.

The "Big Blue" hamburger is very good! One of the best I've had. I could only eat half of it but it was awesome! This local hole in the wall is worth the stop. Nightly specials are also good - my son had the chicken parm and it was great - especially for $5.77!! Dogs are welcome too which is also an added touch.

Stopped in here on a rainy day. It is so fun! Cheap drinks. There was a birthday party and they have us a slice of their cake!

Willy's is a casual burger joint on St Pete Beach that has three things going for it: 1) Fantastic burgers, 2) Liquor bar, 3) Great prices and specials. The only real complaint is that in the summer it can get pretty warm as there's really no 'inside' area. There is of course an inside, but it only seats about five at tables and another five at the bar; the majority of the seating is outside with room for probably about 25 to 30 at tables and another eight to ten at the bar. The bar is open to the outside and the door to the outside is always open, so even with a/c it's warm. Outside there are numerous fans to keep the air moving but if it's high 80's or above, it's going to be uncomfortable for some. A minor issue, which you'll want to be wary of, is if you order a salad, they have a bad habit of bringing it out with the meal, so if you want your appetizer as an appetizer, especially if it's a salad, make it very clear you expect it to be brought out first. They are pet friendly, so there are often dogs on the patio. Now, onto the food. For the burgers, there's basically three of them. Regular, with cheese or with blue cheese. You won't find the huge variety of exotic options and toppings like Engine #9 for example, but then again, they're not trying to do that; keep it simple and ensure what you offer is excellent. Their burger patties are thick and juicy. The fact that they're thick, and the ingredients super fresh and high quality, allows them to let you order all the way down to rare temperature, which is very uncommon these days. Every time I've been, the temperature ordered has been the temperature delivered to the table. My wife orders rare and loves it. If you like a good wedge salad, theirs is decent; I wouldn't call it excellent as the blue cheese dressing tastes like bottled with smaller chunks, but it's still decent, especially for the low price. On weekends their drink prices are a little higher to rope in the tourist dollars, but not excessive like some beach restaurants. They have a full liquor bar so if you like liquor drinks, you're in luck. They do not have any beers on draft; only cans and bottles. During the week, their prices are much better and they have a great happy hour. You'll find a lot of locals here at pretty much any given time. They're not on the water, but it's a block away. Next door is Crab Daddy's which has live entertainment on many weekends, which you'll be able to easily hear from Willy's outside patio. All in all, great local burger joint. If you really want a great deal, go on a week day. They have specials each week day. You especially have to try Mondays (super cheap well drinks) and I think Thursdays when they have a $7 chicken parm that is good and huge; I could be wrong on the day so best to call.

Sad thing is I saw two huge cockroaches crawling on the walls in bright light. I'm so grossed out...The manager was very unprofessional and called the cops on me. Then the manager and the cook came out and they double teamed me and pushed me into a corner and acted like hamsters... So uncalled for... Do yourself a favor don't come here!! Unless you want to eat cockroaches and get locked up

No need to wear your Sunday best! Very casual atmosphere. Excellent service. Huge entrée portions. Only 4 pot stickers for appetizer though. Entrée prices were crazy inexpensive. Definitely a place to hit for a casual meal. Come hungry & be prepared to take a to-go box!

First visit. The Fried mac n cheese was excellent and the gooey burger was good, not the best but very good. I would return.

A good beach joint with...you guessed it burgers and booze. My one complaint would be that it would be nice if the used locally, or at least closer sourced fish in their seafood options, but I guess its a cheap place, and its out of the budget.

  • Karin S.

Willies was my NUMBER ONE place to go for a blackened fish sandwich. So SAD that the last time I went a couple of weeks ago I was told NO MORE BLACKENED FISH SANDWICHES! Only blackened fish platter. So now I have no reason to go - boo hoo. PLEASE bring back the blackened fish sandwich... PLEASE! It WAS the best fish sandwich in Pinellas County.

  • Anna S.

Best Burger on the beach period. Any local will tell you that & rave about it! Order the Big Gooey (cheeseburger) medium. Seriously melts in your mouth & they have tater tots...who doesn't like that? Very local crowd, so be ready to fit in to get in lol. Dress super casual or you'll be over dressed. Close to the water & within walking distance of Shark Tales for an after dinner drink.

  • Lori W.

Best burger on the beach!! They have absolutely the best prices too; all day happy hour: $2 "most drinks". You can catch a glimpse of the intercostal from the outside seating. Service is always friendly and pretty quick. My favorite part is my puppy can come along as well!!

    (5)
  • Madai M.

The Willy big one and tater tots....the perfect cure for a hangover!! Glad we were able to find this place. It's not a big place just a few high top tables and a small bar. Grab a beer order up a burger and chat up the locals.

  • Susan D.

The best burger I have ever had! This is a little hard to find! Definitely a local spot. All staff bartenders were awesome! When I mean it was the best burger I have ever eaten! It was!!!! Great cheap drinks... Great friendly atmosphere. This place is a must when in the area.

My kind of place, charming and casual. We both got the burgers and they were excellent. I'll be back for sure.

Tuna fantastic! Scallops blackened is the way too go! The Willys burger is outstanding! Fun hole in the wall and you just never know who you are going to bump into at this crazy place. Very interesting, fun, delicious, and cheap!

READ READ READ THIS IN ITS ENTIRETY. I have never been so UNHAPPY with my dining experience as I am today. Read this in its entirety to be floored. I'm a local and just can't believe owners would be suffice with such sub-par staff. Becca was our waitress. It's evident she's received no training at any level at anything in her life. My girlfriend and I and her two pups decided to head on down the street to take advantage of Willies kick ass burgers. We sat outside and seated ourselves at the least dirty of the 4 tables available. On each of the dirty tables lay half full ashtrays (disgusting). It was clear that Becca had the outside and the other waitress had the inside. It was clear that no tables had been cleaned since opening. I asked Becca to wipe down the table and when she did spray it with Windex, she sprayed it in my direction and wiped the food onto our laps (First thing taught in waiter school). Next, we ordered two waters and a coke. On her way out to give us our drinks, she was carrying, no joke, 6 drinks and ended up spilling 2 of them on the dogs. Next we ordered our food. We decided to get the chicken parmesan and the burger with jalapeños. Originally my GF wanted the Blue Cheese burger, but we decided to get the jalapeño burger with a side of bleu cheese. The food came out pretty quickly but there were no jalapeños but did have the bleu cheese on the side. Was gonna ask for jalapeños when she came back, but she didn't. We asked for water for the dogs when we got there; never got it. I had to go to the bar to get a refill on my coke because she didn't show back up after delivering our food. Side note: one table was upset they didn't get refills, one gentleman had to go to the bar to get another beer, and another couple just got up and left because they never even got their drinks. They were pretty upset too. So we finish our meal and I go inside to get the check and a box because I thought the girl got lost. I speak to the bartender and asked if there's a manager on duty in which she replied no. She asked what was wrong and I explained to her everything that occurred. She said she would see about comping something, which wasn't what I was looking for, but would have helped to ease the frustration. NOW HERE'S WHERE WE GET TO THE GOOD PART Becca comes out to the table with the check and nothing's comped. No apologies or anything. I told her the bartender said she was going to comp something and that's when Becca became very argumentative. She argued that we were going back and forth about which burger we wanted. In fact we went from one burger to another. That's not back and forth. She asked why I didn't tell her when it came out, in which I replied, she would have had to stop by our table for me to let her know. She continued her argument. NOW HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!! She had the nerve to say, and I quote, "You should know better than to argue with somebody younger". WTF?!?! My GF and i looked at each other... Did she really just say that? I said I'm gonna discuss that with the manager and she said she's not worried about it and that she's been there for more than a year. I said I'm writing a Yelp review as we speak and she said she should have worn her "Yelp this" shirt. I'll reach out to the owner and see how they feel about Becca's comments and her terrible service. If she still has a job after this I would be flabbergasted. . IT GETS EVEN BETTER: When I got home, I called the bar to get management/owner info and a woman picked up. I asked whom I'm speaking with and she absolutely refused to tell me. She asked who I was as if it were a game. I told her my name and she asked what I needed. I asked her again what her name was and still she refused. She even asked what I looked like? Huh? I even told her I was recording the conversation and all of the sudden the phone got disconnected. I called back and had to deal with the same incompetent girl still refusing to provide any information. I called back a couple minutes later and got the other girl working whom took my info and notified me that there is no management, only the owner who pops in here and there. We'll see if I get a phone call.

We stumbled across this place looking for somewhere in Sunset Beach we could bring our pooch. We had 2 chicken parm dinner specials (huge chicken breast) and 2 bottles beers each. Food was great, and the total bill was $21! Back again for lunch to try other menu items. Love it here!!!

Went here on a Friday night. Service was great and the wait was not long at all. Pleasant location near the water and lots of street parking! I ordered the scallops (blackened). Truly some of the best scallops I had ever had. And they served quite a generous portion. For an appetizer the table shared the fried mac n cheese. Two triangles of scrumdeliumcious mac n cheese that did not allow left overs! All the drinks were cheap and even though there were some things they did not offer they had everything a great local bar should have! Cool ambiance, great place to hang out and grab a bite.

  • Savitre S.

Perfect, decorated with those snarky vintage signs that I love, a walk away from the shore of SPB, and pet friendly! Turkey balls were good, although I was expecting actual chunks of turkey. Mac N Cheese Bites and the Big Gooey- do not miss!

Worst. Service. EVER. Short, cocky manager guy had attitude and immediately began to defend server when we tried to explain our horrible service to him and told us: "There are lots of places to eat on the beach, and we could leave!" He's RIGHT. There are LOTS of other places to eat on the beach. The food and service is better at most of them too. Save your money and eat somewhere else. P.S. Same owner and shared staff up the road at "Dead Bobs." You've been warned...

Classic American Burger! If you are visiting the USA and wondering where our hamburger obsession comes from and what the big deal is - come to Willys - you will find out! If you are local and tired of tourist traps and chain restaurants, want to spend at day at St Pete Beach but really want an awesome meal in a casual atmosphere at the end of the day - come to Willys. Either way you won't be disappointed - it's a beach dive a stones throw from the water - cute little place - Americana at it's finest! The big gooey cheeseburger is "all that" and the Big Blue with blue cheese and mushrooms was great too (for fans of blue cheese like myself)! The onion rings were pretty darn good as a side. Fancy doesn't impress me, good food does - but always remember to order what the restaurant is famous for - in this case the poster classic American burger - look no further - grab a beer and have a bite!

  • Brian G.

This is our favorite place at the beach! Deviled Eggs on the menu and Tater Tots! How can you beat that. All the food is great and the beer is always the coldest at the beach! Absolutely my favorite place to eat!

    (5)
  • Todd G.

I am not even a huge burger eater, but this place does have a tasty burger. Tater tots were good as well, haven't had those in years. It's a small place with that "Old Florida" beach feel to it. It's worth a stop and there was easy parking.

Great burgers and beach atmosphere. Recommend the tots with your burger! Good location with plenty to see nearby.

Gooey Burger, Tots, Onion Rings, Amanda, Willy ... AWESOME ROCKERS! First visit, definitely not the last!

Awesome food! I personally had the fried Mac and Cheese, Deviled eggs, and a Big Gooey Burger. My friends had the fish. Awesome all around. You get a lot of food for your money. Service was great! Thank you Alexis. You made my friends first time there. Great experience!

    (5)
  • Meagan P.

We had wings, onion rings, and deep fired mac n cheese. Honestly the wings were good enough, but the mac n cheese was all pasta and no sauce, and it's dry with nothing to dip it into (marinara, etc.) The service was also average, overal it was under wehlming. I think perhapse the burgers would have been a better option, but...meh.

The best hamburguer In Florida without doubt. Delicious cheeseburger, great service for a reasonable price!!!

  • Amy S.

I've been to Willies about 6 times, and each time the servers are more rude! Food is good if you can get a seat! Or staff to even offer you a drink! By then, I wished I'd gone elsewhere!

  • Kurt B.

Great little hideaway bar and restaurant. Luckily I stop in on a Monday for the $2 drink specials. I got the blacked fish sandwich which was excellent and my wife had the scallops which were equally as good. There was also 5.95 dinner special happening a couple nights a week. The service was friendly and fast.

  • Paul L.

Try the Chicken Philly sandwich - grilled chicken strips with melted cheese and fried onions on a nice long roll. The brisket sandwich was delicious too. Very tender slices of brisket on a nice roll. Tater tots were very good, too.

  • Holly D.

Willy's has great food!!! I've been there twice, the first time I had the burger. Not the burger I ordered but it was still the best burger I've had in years. The second time I went I got the fish for the special they had. Another hit! I would def recommend it. There's not much room there so get there early or late but not around dinner time. But if you don't mind waiting it's worth the wait for sure.

  • Jon B.

I've been to this place a handful of times when we visit my in-laws who live in the area. The food is very good, and amazingly inexpensive for what you get. I've always ordered different things and always been happy. The help is friendly and accommodating. My main complaint would be the last time we were down the place was quite busy. We had to wait for a while.

    (4)
  • Kathy W.

Burgers=Incredible. Turkey Balls=Good to the last drop of gravy. Fried Mac and Cheese=Really good. Wait staff- very easy to work with. Prices are very reasonable. Wish we stayed longer to get back to Willy's.

Killer beach grub in a way cool atmosphere and cheap. The service is spot on and always smiling. Willie has it going on bruh! The BIG ASS KILLER WHALE sandwich is THE BOMB! But hey Willie, you gotta get some local brew dude...

  • Rob S.

We were in St Pete for a week and we ate in here 3 times it is that good. All of the wait staff ate very friendly and the owners was always up for a quick chat. We had the Pulled Pork sandwich, seared ahi tuna, scallops, pot stickers, country fried chicken, fried atlantic sole, chicken parm and the boneless chicken wings. They were all really tasty and freshly cooked. My only disappointment was that I didnt try one of their famous gooey burgers. They serve food until 2am which for us is great as sometimes we like to have a drink before we have a meal and most places around were stopping serving at 10pm. A great hole in the wall. We'll be back next year.

  • Barbara M.

Willy's is one place you do not want to miss - we LOVE it! Truly the Best Burger! The prices are great, staff is friendly and although it is kind of a dive - the beach is very close! We have a friend that was in restaurant supply and the first thing he does is look in the kitchen - he gave it high marks for being very clean! Great place, great food! Can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Heather R.

It's a complete hole in the wall with limited seating but is so worth the wait. The ooey gooey (cheeseburger) is heavenly but what brings me back every trip are the turkey balls. While deep fried turkey and stuffing balls may sound off-putting, the cranberry and gravy complete these little Turkey Day delights! The bartenders are quirky but sweet and make a great Bloody Mary!

  • Michael C.

Great food, Great prices and huge servings...ex: whole bucket of steamed shrimp for only $8.95!! The big Gooey Burger you have to try it.... its fantastic!... you will be stuffed after eating this burger and the biggest hot dog ive ever seen for only $4.95!! Looks like everyday they have a special. .on the night we went the chicken parmigiana was excellent and the serving was huge...great place ...we will definetly be back again!

After looking for a great little (locals) lunch spot to take my friend and kids that where visiting from my hometown today, I turned to yelp and found Willy's. I'm glad I did! Love this little place! It is a little hole in the wall with covered seating and not many tables, they had fans so it wasn't to bad even though it was hotter then hot. It was crowed when we got there and had to wait a few minutes for a 6 top but once we were seated out waitress who by the way was doing all the tables so she was busy, got our drinks right away. The food took a little longer because it was busy but it started clearing out when our food came so it was prefect! We ordered the Calamari which was your standard breaded and fried but they were yummy not chewy and my 3yr old loved it! We all ordered something different, my friend ordered the Tuna with tots, Looked and tasted so good and I don't eat Tuna! Her girls split a burger with tots which they both said was to big to finish but they did and they loved the cheese! Her son ordered the DD Chicken Sandwich Buffalo Style with tots. This sandwich was HUGE! Tasty, juicy and spicy! He loved it! I had the Wedge Salad and split the fish sandwich with tots with my little one, who's eating the left overs as I type this. The salad was huge too with crispy bacon, ripe tomatoes and yummy blue cheese dressing over a big half of iceberg, I loved it. The Fish Sandwich was also Huge with a few pieces of fish thrown on top. It was crispy outside and nice and light an moist on the inside. It came with all the toppings which we didn't even use because we wanted to taste the fish and it was great! The beer was cold and we loved everything. I will return for a burger next time! Oh and for 6 of us, 2 apps, 4 beers, 4 drinks for the kids and 6 entrees the bill with tip was around $95. You can't beat the price for the amount of food and the great atmosphere that is Willy's Burgers & Booze!

This place seems to always be overflowing with a sea of salty locals, seasoned tourists from the Great White North, and misplaced Midwesterners. - and for good reason. The food has rarely disappointed me and the drinks flow freely. You will find Oversized Burgers, Buffalo'd Chicken Sandwich, Seared Ahi Tuna, Deep Fried Mac and Cheese, to name a few... There are drink specials during the week and their double tall cocktails are the price of a normal drink any where else. This small 'beach intimate' open air restaurant/bar has become an institution in St. Pete Beach almost since inception. While staff changes seemingly as frequently as the seasons, one true thing remains about this Dive - The Food/Drink Quality Price Ratio (QPR). You cannot find a better way feed yourself on the beach modestly than here. However, the service can range from Fantastic to pleasantly mediocre. Children are not advisable. Pretentiousness is not welcome. You may love it, you may hate it - Just remember that if you think the customer is always right, this may not be the place for you. Move on and make some space for someone else.

Omg stop. This place has the best burger I have ever eaten in my life. Granted it was a trek from Tampa, this little shin dig nestles almost right up to the water surrounded by numerous bigger, (and maybe chain?) restaurants. Don't be intimidated but this tiny place that's a little rough on the edges, because once you sit down, the atmosphere is pretty relaxed. I wasn't a big fan of their famous fried Mac n cheese (to be honest it was a little bland and I was looking for some type of sauce to dip it) but their burger was phenomenal. It was super tender, juicy and full of flavor. I had to fight my mom and husband to not eat it all on me. Prices are really reasonable and cheap too. For three people we walked away with about a $45 bill.

Visiting our son in Clearwater and went to Willy's in St. Pete for a burger. The BEST burger I have ever had, hand's down. Good service. If you don't have a GPS you should ask someone where it is located. Awesome

Nothing but the best burgers and service around SPB! Went there once 2 years ago and forgot the name - described "best burger" and cab driver immediately knew where to take me. The Gooey Burger is definitely filling, I needed a box. Turkey balls (lol) were huge, baked mac n cheese app was good (2 big pie like slices), and boneless wings app was delish. Table next to me got the pound of shrimp and looked amazing. Our server was a young girl, pretty smile, and so sweet. Kept our water filled up! Food came out quick and owner (I think he's the owner) who sat us was a friendly guy as well. I forgot how good it was after 2 years, but will make the trip down from Palm Harbor more often. Oh and from midnight to 2 AM, they serve the gooey burger with tots for $5. EVERYDAY! Love this place.

Big Gooey was the classic American cheeseburger! Tiny bar and restaurant but great food. Daily specials below $6 bucks. Not fancy but no complaints here.

  • Jillian B.

Nothing special from the outside but has a cute, laid back, beachy vibe inside. Heard it was the best burger on the beach...and confirmed it! A huge, juicy, delicious, gooey burger. The fried mac and cheese was also great! Definitely worth it and the best beach food I've had in the year I've lived here!

  • Jill G.

Okay - this is a hidden gem in st Pete beach. Really no markings on the building - but wow. Can't beat the prices and the food is amazing!!! Must try the burger and make sure you come hungry!! Atmosphere is great- laid back and ready for a beer at all times!!

  • Daryl Y.

I wanted to hate this place! No where to sit, cigarette smoke from the bar being blown by a fan at our table, inattentive and careless service (no drink refills, forgot to order our deviled eggs, etc) but the burger was Delish! Hard to deny great food and it fully compensated for what normally would have given them 1 star - even an average burger would have gained them one star but I can honestly say this was one damn good burger. Basic yet delicious and well cooked. Do note that they don't have fired but tater tots. D.

We went to Willy's on a recent Saturday mid-morning. I must say, this is my kind of a divey place. The wait staff was solid. The dishes we got...the ahi tuna, pork sandwich and tater tots were all excellent. Our friends got the big fish sandwich and they were also happy. One person in our group ordered the scallop lunch. We all scolded her because scallops at a dive bar equals a trip to the ladies room. Two things; the scallops were bigger than what you'd expect for $8.95 and they were excellently prepared. Grilled just right! We all got screwdrivers or bloody's and they did have the proper amount of booze in them. We all agreed that when it comes to a bang-for-a-buck this place was excellent. If I lived around St. Pete Beach I'd be a regular and in need of a lap band.

  • Brian N.

Ignore any negative reviews! They were left by people that wouldn't know a good place if it bit them in the butt! The burgers here are the absolute best any of us have had in Florida. The place is a total dive, but as far as I'm concerned it adds to the whole beach experience. Oh, my youngest got a hot dog and it was the best hot dog he said he's ever had.

Absolutely amazing meal. Turkey Balls, fried macaroni, burger, steamed shrimp & fish special were all great, 3 non alcohol drinks, all under $40. Staff all friendly. Highly recommended, would definitely go back.

Whatta shitshow! Walked up in here on a weekend night and was told the wait was going to be 40-45 minutes. The place was tiny, and all I saw was people NOT EATING. Presumably, they were waiting on their food. So I walked back to the bar to see if we could get in where we fit in, but no such luck. I asked the bartender if I could just order 2 burgers from her and bypass the wait to be seated, and she said "Sure, but just so you know, the kitchen is really backed up and it's going to be about 40 minutes." 90 minutes to get a burger if I wait to be seated, and 40 if I order at the bar or to-go? I'll pass! On the way out, I glanced into the miniature-sized kitchen and saw that they were just frying up their burgers on a flat top, which was unexciting. So we waltez over to Oyster Shucker across the street where I encountered what might have been one of the best burgers of my life. 10 ounces, thick juicy and FLAME -GRILLED to medium perfection. Suck on eggs, Willy's.

Almost forgot to review this place... Why, it was the first place we ate at upon arriving at St. Pete beach. That's a bit unsual, as the first thing we usually do is eat seafood. But mom and Bob had been wanting to try this place, so here we are. I hoped Willy's has some seafood. While the name "beach" or "bar" does not appear in the name, Willy's is close enough to Blind Pass, and the upper reaches of St. Pete Beach, that it will do as a beach bar. While it has a very complete menu, it also has indoor and outdoor bar seating, both which will provide respite from the sun. We had chicken wings, fried chicken livers (first time I've seen that on the beach), a burger and a fish sandwich. The wings and livers were very good. The burger was gigantic and delicious. The fish sandwich was haddock or cod (I forget) and did a good job of starting out this visit with seafood. Most sandwiches are served with tater tots, which was a nice departure from fries. There are some other interesting options on the menu, mainly the jumbo hot dog ("Mrs. Willy's Favorite") and deep fried turkey dressing ("Turkey Kahunas") and Spam fries. I was thinking we might make it back to try it, but with so many places to eat and so little time, we never did. Bottom line: You can almost see Blind Pass from Willy's outdoor seating. So while the view is not that great, the food is good enough to stray from the waterfront view.

We went to willys many times before last night and each time was great probably a 4.5. Last night though was a complete mess. We ordered the fish special with tator tots and cole slaw. The fish came out black burnt and dry so we sent it back. We asked to keep the tator tots and cole slaw and were told we had to send everything back????? Really we were hungry and they messed up. So we ordered one of the burgers that we had before and was delicious before. We ordered it medium rare and it came out well done. My boyfriend ate half as we were hungry. I ate the tator tots and cole slaw that we couldn't keep? We left the other half there and won't be going back.

I have never been so disrespected in my life at a restaurant before. My waitress started accusing me of the behavior of fellow intoxicated patrons and started actually cursing at me because I inquired about the checks. I have been to many restaurants before and have never been actually accosted and threatened by a server. I literally asked my server why she was acting like she was and she replied "we don't give a fuck about your business, leave!" I worked in the restaurant industry for 8 years and have never heard or seen such a blatant example of disrespect as I experienced tonight. I have five fellow patrons that were with me, and willing to account for me sitting at my table, politely, the entire time I was present at this reataurant. As a fellow server and bartender, I was about to leave a 20% tip for my terrible waitress Becca, but my friends literally dragged me out before I could. She needs some help and guidance. Willys is a great place but they have lost a regular and anybody I talk to for life because of Becca's service.

This place is awesome!!!! The best burger I have had throughout all of St.Pete. Prices were extremely low and the quality of food was top notch . Also I highly recommend the "blackened" boneless wings. You will not be disappointed. A+ !!!

Wow. A hidden treasure for sure! Local guy at our hotel told us about it. We were looking for casual, low-key spot with good food and atmosphere. No sign outside. Great food and unbelievable prices. We had pound shrimp, seared tuna, 10 oz. hamburger & several beers for less than $34. Might be best seared tuna I've ever had. Would have never expected that from this small resturant /bar! Should definitely try out!!!

Some of the best dive bar food around. The scallops were amazing and blacken chicken wings are good. Plus you get tater-tots. The prices are great!

I will give it no stars if I can. The food is good but it's not worth the attitude of the waitresses. Great place for older singles who want to drink heavily otherwise skip it and go somewhere else.

Awesome "locals pub" with a fun dive bar feel. Best prices ever and generous portions. The Gooey burger is amazing and i love the huge fish sandwich with Tater tots! Salads are served in a large chilled stainless bowl, delis! Pet friendly on the patio and great nightly meal deals.

Not on the water but close enough for the ocean breeze. Excellent bartenders. Best burgers on the beach, the ahi tuna was surprisingly good as well.My fiancé is in love with the fried Mac n cheese. Great place for a few drinks and above average bar food. Dive bar feel without the dirty patrons that normally come along with such an atmosphere.

We spoke with an area resident who recommend Willy's for its deviled eggs and shrimp. She was right about that. It was a great local place with awesome burgers and good brisket.

Awesome little quaint place with a beachy charm. They probably have the best burgers on the beach and the prices are almost too cheap! Try the big gooey!

  • Dan D.

This is definitely a local joint that I would encourage all to come and try. Unfortunately, the town has taken out some of their tables due to parking spaces and some legal issue that I feel is unfair to the patrons an establishment. I had their Philly today which was cooked to perfection. I have not ad one bad thing on the menu. Ahi Tuna = Awesome, Burgers = Awesome, Boneless wings (chicken fingers) = Awesome, and so on. Try this place if you haven't already.

Delicious food, cheap with huge portions. We all ate well and took home leftovers! Service was good as well for being a hole in the wall. Not to be missed.

If you should ever find yourself at the beach end of Corey Avenue while out at St. Pete Beach, then do yourself a big favor and eat here. The Big Willy burgers are one of the best-kept secrets at the beach. They are humongous, and cooked and seasoned perfectly. They come on a very nice bun and the garnishes are excellent. You can add tater tots for 89 cents. The burgers are about $5.99. Now, you don't see that price point on a fresh-cooked gourmet burger much these days. There must be a couple of pounds of beef on each burger. Definitely share yours, like I did. On the booze end of Willy's Burgers and Booze, I believe shots were priced at $2.50. Now, wow. Where did they come up with that price? Just do it. This is really a locals hangout, and you kind of have to know where it is. It is around the corner from the Daiq Shack and The Sloppy Pelican. The Shak has great live music every Sunday later afternoon from about 4 till 8pm. Don't miss that. The Pelican has great grub, too. But try Willy's first after you've gotten your drink on at the beach on a Sunday afternoon. You will not be disappointed. The place is kept exceptionally clean for a beach joint, and the restrooms are spotless. You'll probably find yourself seated next to a local beach bum of some sort. Try to take it all in. This place is deserving of the highest praise.

This place is one the times I have been greatly suprised. At first glance you just think dive bar. So I was def sketched out when I saw ahi tuna for $8 on their menu, but said eff it i will deal with the food poisioning later. It wasn't the best I have had, but it was solid. After that we order the shrimp which was just awesome. They give you a nice quanitity cooked and seasoned very well. We threw this down with some rum runners and beers and couldn't not have been anymore full. For the price and the service you cannot beat a place like this.

  • Michelle T.

A great little hole-in-the-wall place. You'll never find a better burger for $5.95. Heck, I've paid 3-to-4x that and have been disappointed. Not here! Now this isn't the cutesy, ole 'how can I help you' joint. But if you want a great, no frills/all taste burger- Willy's is it. Weird thing is- they don't serve fries- only Tatar tots.

I have been to Willy's 6 times in the past month. They have an excellent Burger and would be one of the best in town. However, I like my burger rare. The first two times I went in the early evening, I ordered my burger rare and it was cooked perfectly. Very juicy and flavorful. I would have given them a 4.5 based on those experiences alone. The service was good and the accompaniments were good. The last four times I have been, the burger has been overcooked and dry. The last time I ordered it EXTRA rare, to try and avoid the overcooking, but it came out medium to medium well. My friends ordered their burger medium rare and theirs was overcooked as well. I probably will not go back. As someone who likes rare beef, I am used to restaurants overcooking, but 4 out of 6 visits is not an especially great ratio.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a cute place for lunch. We read reviews about this place and decided to try it. We both ordered the cheeseburgers and tater tots. They were hand pattied and made of sirloin I believe. They were pretty good. But like the other reviews say if you are looking for fast food go elsewhere. This place is on island time and laid back. The service could have been a little better but overall this place isn't bad . Definitely sit outside. The patio gets a nice breeze from the ocean ;)

Love this place. About as basic as food gets but that's the point. Grab a beer with one of their amazing fish sandwiches or burgers. Their blackened scallops are not to be missed. Baked beans as a side are really good, but it's worth it to add some tater tots or another side as well. You won't be disappointed.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Willy's is NOT your typical "beach food" dispensary. Though it is practically right on the Gulf with the standard weathered outdoor seating and greasy menus, it rises above the tired old cliches like the Sloppy Pelican (located a couple blocks away) to create a new - unique and delicious - destination. The menu must be seen to be believed. They manage to go 'over the top' without being hamfisted about it. Fried mac n cheese, Turkey Stuffing Nuggets, Spingers (fried spam fingers) are just a few of the oddities...they have burgers, fish n chips, and other more usual fare as well (ALL priced incredibly well for the location) I had the "Grandpa Willy" Half-Pound fried bologna sandwich, and it was heavenly! (I admit I did remove about 1/3 of the bologna to make it's consumption more attainable). Served with thick, molten jack cheese and a side of the 'famous' baked beans - it's a winner. The bologna itself is served in two huge pieces, pan fried and split into thirds then placed on the bun...if there is such a thing as "gourmet" bologna, this is it. And how about the amazing seared tuna steak? Generous, and perfectly kissed with the flame, and served with a nice soy dipping sauce and wasabi - as well as a seaweed salad! You really don't expect a place like this to serve such a nice cut, and one so well presented. My girlfriend had nothing but raves for the meal (and she HATES beach bar food with a passion). We started things off with another "bar standard" in Florida, fish spread. Again, Willy's makes it their own - PERFECT flavor, consistency and presentation. Easily one of the best fish spreads I have had around town. I will be back for more!!

Just went to Willy's for the first time a few days ago and must say, it's a hidden gem on the beach. A bit small, but it has a great beachy vibe without being too divey. Very clean and the bartender/server was very nice and cool to talk to. After a little barhopping this was the only place that keeps their kitchen open until 3 a.m. I didn't have a drink here so not sure how they are. The folks with me just had beer. But the food...oh the food... This place is the inventor "so bad, but oh so good" kind of food. The kind of food that instantly clogs your arteries, but it tastes so damn good you don't want to stop. My boyfriend works on the beach and has raved endlessly about their fried bologna sandwich. I finally got to try a bite and must say it is pretty darn good. Salty, meaty goodness on a bun with cheese (he prefers velveeta...hey, go big or go home right?) My friend ordered the blackened wings, which came out piping hot. They were really good, loved the seasoning, but I prefer wings doused in sauce. Once I saw the turkey balls I had to have them. Fried turkey dressing (or I call it stuffing) served with a side of gravy and cranberry sauce. Late night snack perfection. The atmosphere was great too, typical laid back vibe that you get on the beach. Can't wait to go back!

My version of a short review: Good/quick/no-nonsense food and drinks. The menu is typical and you pretty much know what you're getting as soon as you sit down...if you can find a spot for your happy-tush (expletive redacted) ;) I had the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich which came w/ a side of beans and slaw and it was hot, and tasty...and as expected. I was with a friend and we split the boneless wings which were the stand-out of this lunch. Sooooo good and dripping with sauce (I like it that way). The beer and drinks were cold, the atmosphere was a bit claustrophobic, but very reminiscent of a local place cramming in the guests. Liked it. I will be back as I hear their burger is worth a second visit. As-is the chicken parm on tuesdays fro $5 who I was told by a taxi driver is humungous. We'll just see about that!

One of St Pete Beach's best kept secrets! Had a phenomenal Caesar salad & scallops for $8.95!!! You can't lose! Burgers are great! Haven't had anything there NOT tasty! Only downfall for me are the VERY uncomfortable stools!

I was referred to Willy's by a few of the locals while on vacation in St. Petersburg and I have to say my expectations weren't high as I'm a huge burger fan and rarely does one blow me away. Willy's without a doubt changed that. It was so good in fact we visited twice for dinner within the one week we were here! business was bustling both nights which to me is always a good sign and service was very pleasant as well. One of the owners actually came in checked on us and you could tell he genuinely wanted to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and that we were taken care of. I love that! Hands down one of THE BEST burgers I've ever had in my life. The burger itself was so flavorful and incredibly juicy with a nice toasted bun and terrific toppings and the cheese they used on the cheeseburger was so gooey!(I'm thinking Velveeta?) so good! So bottom line, Is it fancy? no, it's everything a great bar/grille should be and nothing it shouldn't. Worth two day's worth of calories? absolutely. Next time I'm back in St. Pete, Willy's is a must!!

Food may be good (I don't know as we didn't make it that far), but we were not greeted by anyone as we entered, just mostly stared at by EVERYONE as if we were intruding on their private space... We searched around inside and finally realized the waitress was planted at the bar and when we made eye contact with her she finally got up and asked if we wanted a table or to sit in the bar. So we said we would like a table (although we never really saw much that resembled tables (mostly just an open space where tables might go)), and she kinda rolled her eyes and said it would be about 20 minutes for a table (wasn't sure what she was basing that on...?), and she said you may just want to find a place at the bar (i.e. notice no offer to find us a place, just more of a good luck with that kinda attitude), and she promptly turned her back on us and sat back at the inside bar. My wife and I looked at each other and walked straight back to our car and found a great meal at PCI just down the road!

Another place where I must've been super drunk the first time around. I ranted and raved to a friend about the burgers and spam fries. The waitress basically acted like we were an inconvenience, was extremely rude to my friend who wanted a split check (calling him princess, etc.) Warned us that the food would take "forever to make," etc. The burger came out fine but not particularly memorable. The spam fries were super undercooked and absolutely gross. To quote my friend: "If you're going to have an attitude like that you should at least be hot." Not impressed. The Pinellas beaches are in serious need of a bar food savior.

Honestly the only reason I went here is cause i heard they had deep fried stuffing. They were exactly what you would expect. Fan-tastic. For some reason i am a huge fan of boxed stuffing. I am usually very picky about things not made from scratch, but boxed stuffing is my reprehensible indulgence ( i hate the phrase guilty pleasure). I also tried spam for the first time, which they deep fry, and i will never have again (at least in that form). My main was the cheesesteak which was so bad it was hard to eat. The burger isn't my kind of style either. However, I will probably go back for a cheap beer and more fried stuffing and I'm sure my fiance wouldn't mind more tater tots.

After a week of nothing but fish I was needing a burger fix and yelped for burgers on St Pete's Beach. This is a locals bars so we decided to get into Willy's early to avoid the smokers. We arrived about 11 AM on a week day and the outside bar was full of locals drinking beer and smoking so we sat at a side table that had fans that kept most of the smoke away. I had the Big Gooey $6.95 and tots for .75 cents extra. The wife had a Caesar Salad $3.95 that was served in a large metal mixing bowl. It was what I needed to get my fix and would go back again when I'm in St Pete's. A great lunch all for under $20 including a couple of beers.

Thisis the best burger and cheesesteak you will find!! It is so reasonably priced and full of local personalities that it is entertaining to just hang around and have a burger and a beer! The only thing missing at all is some local music!! Otherwise this is the best!

VERY RUDE WAITRESS - The owner was obnoxious too. We will never go back. It used to be a good place - especially for locals but I guess that all changed once business picked up. These locals will never be back!
